Record Heat in Southeast, June 20-21

A number of daily record temperatures were set or tied in the Southeast U.S. over the weekend (June 20 and 21). From the National Weather Service:

Florida:
A RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 98 DEGREES WAS SET AT FORT LAUDERDALE TODAY.
THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD OF 94 SET IN 1956.

A RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 96 DEGREES WAS SET AT MIAMI TODAY.
THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD OF 95 SET IN 1981.

A RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 95 DEGREES WAS TIED AT MIAMI TODAY.
THE OLD RECORD OF WAS SET IN 1944.

A NEW RECORD HIGH MINIMUM TEMPERATURE OF 81 DEGREES HAS BEEN SET AT
FORT MYERS - PAGE FIELD SO FAR TODAY. THE OLD RECORD HIGH MINIMUM OF
79 DEGREES WAS SET IN 1992.

THIS RECORD HIGH MINIMUM SHOULD REMAIN IN PLACE FOR TODAY AS THERE
ARE NO SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS AROUND TO HELP COOL TEMPERATURES
AND WINDS ARE OUT OF THE WEST NORTHWEST OFF THE WARM GULF OF MEXICO.

A NEW RECORD HIGH MINIMUM TEMPERATURE OF 82 DEGREES HAS BEEN SET AT
SARASOTA-BRADENTON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT SO FAR TODAY. THE OLD
RECORD HIGH MINIMUM OF 79 DEGREES WAS SET IN 1964.

A NEW RECORD HIGH MINIMUM TEMPERATURE OF 81 DEGREES HAS BEEN SET AT
TAMPA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT SO FAR TODAY. THE OLD RECORD HIGH
MINIMUM OF 80 DEGREES WAS LAST SET IN 1998.

A NEW RECORD HIGH MINIMUM TEMPERATURE OF 83 DEGREES HAS BEEN SET AT
ST PETERSBURG - ALBERT WHITTED AIRPORT SO FAR TODAY. THE OLD RECORD
HIGH MINIMUM OF 81 DEGREES WAS SET IN 1944.

A NEW RECORD HIGH MINIMUM TEMPERATURE OF 78 DEGREES HAS BEEN SET AT
LAKELAND LINDER AIRPORT SO FAR TODAY. THE OLD RECORD HIGH MINIMUM OF
76 DEGREES WAS SET IN 1963.

A RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 98 DEGREES WAS SET AT VERO BEACH SO FAR
TODAY. THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD OF 94 SET IN 2004.

THE HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 102 DEGREES TODAY AT THE TALLAHASSEE
REGIONAL AIRPORT BROKE THE RECORD FOR THE DATE OF 101 SET IN 1998.

THE HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 100 DEGREES TODAY AT THE APALACHICOLA
AIRPORT BROKE THE RECORD FOR THE DATE OF 98 SET IN 1998. THIS
TEMPERATURE ALSO TIES THE MONTHLY RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE FOR JUNE
OF 100 DEGREES SET PREVIOUSLY ON JUNE 27-29TH 1998.

THE HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 98 DEGREES ON SATURDAY JUNE 20 AT THE
APALACHICOLA AIRPORT TIED THE PREVIOUS RECORD OF 98 SET IN 1998.

A RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 98 DEGREES WAS SET AT PENSACOLA TODAY.
THIS TIES THE OLD RECORD OF 98 SET IN 1897.

Georgia:
A RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 98 DEGREES WAS SET AT BRUNSWICK TODAY.
THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD OF 96 SET IN 1981.

South Carolina:
THE LOW TEMPERATURE AT DOWNTOWN CHARLESTON SC ON JUNE 21 WAS 81
DEGREES. THIS TIES THE OLD RECORD HIGH MINIMUM TEMPERATURE
PREVIOUSLY SET IN 1952.

THE LOW TEMPERATURE AT DOWNTOWN CHARLESTON SC ON JUNE 20 WAS 80
DEGREES. THIS TIES THE OLD RECORD HIGH MINIMUM TEMPERATURE SET IN
1950.

Alabama:
THE MINIMUM TEMPERATURE ON SATURDAY AT THE HUNTSVILLE INTERNATIONAL
AIRPORT WAS JUST 74 DEGREES. THIS BREAKS THE HIGHEST MINIMUM
TEMPERATURE EVER RECORDED ON THIS DATE...72 SET IN 1967.

THIS IS THE FOURTH CONSECUTIVE RECORD HIGH MINIMUM TEMPERATURE SET
AT HUNTSVILLE.

Mississippi:
A RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 100 DEGREES WAS SET AT HATTIESBURG
TODAY. THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD OF 99 DEGREES SET IN 1970.

A RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 100 DEGREES WAS SET AT HATTIESBURG
TODAY [Saturday]. THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD OF 99 DEGREES SET IN 1953.
